SPHERE 2025 Workshop Code of Conduct

The SPHERE Workshop is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment for all participants. As a UC Berkeley-sponsored academic event, this code of conduct aligns with university policies. It applies to all attendees, whether in person or online, and to all workshop-related activities, including the off-campus banquet.


Expected Behavior

Participants are expected to:

  • Treat everyone with respect, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Adhere to UC Berkeley’s Principles of Community.
  • Use good practices for intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Identify themselves with their real name and affiliation during registration and participation.
  • Respect intellectual property and the appropriate use of presented materials and ideas.
  • Follow UC Berkeley’s policies on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Violence/Sexual Harassment (SVSH).
  • Be mindful of surroundings, conduct, and virtual backgrounds in online spaces.
  • Comply with all rules of UC Berkeley venues and any off-campus locations.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following are examples of behaviors that will not be tolerated:

  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind, including verbal, written, or visual forms.
  • Intimidation, stalking, or sustained disruption of talks, sessions, or events.
  • Abuse, including personal attacks or threats.
  • Inappropriate or obscene materials or behavior in any physical or virtual setting.
  • Retaliation against individuals who report violations of this code.

Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this code of conduct:

All reports will be taken seriously and handled with discretion. Organizers may take actions including verbal warnings, removal from the workshop (without refund), or escalation to UC Berkeley authorities.


Acknowledgment

All participants will be required to acknowledge this Code of Conduct during registration. By attending the SPHERE Workshop, you agree to abide by these guidelines and help us create a positive and productive environment for all.
